Ceremonial Christmas Illumination
The Christmas luminaires on the Opera boulevard in Hamburg are the result of a competition and a true eye-catcher. The star hangs from a tension line that is specially attached only during the Christmas season each year. The masts are placed asymmetrically, primarily on one side of the street, which enhances the aesthetic effect. Inspired by the motif of sparklers, transparent plastic tubes filled with LED light strings were used. These tubes are secured with sturdy metal cuffs and mounted on the lamp post. The tubes are intertwined differently, resulting in a unique aesthetic.
Since the light objects only serve as winter illumination, they should be easy to store and maintain. In addition to the design requirements, this was also taken into account during the craftsmanship.
